F*ck 2020 Jokes & Memes

In Blog, Hustle Podcast by Eric ByrnesLeave a Comment

Yes I get it, 2020 is a challenging year and if I had a dollar every time I heard we are living in “unprecedented” times, I’d be off on my yacht headed to my private island sipping the finest tequila and knocking out daily ultra marathons wearing nothing but my neon orange & electric blue banana hammock…

Between the global pandemic, shutdown economy, political riots and endless wildfires on the West Coast, it’s easy to see how Armageddon has become one of the most commonly used words in the English language.

These are times that even my Mother has said she never expected in her lifetime and from the recent Judy Byrnes Birthday celebration Daily Hustle, we all know how much she has experienced in her time on this beautiful planet, so there is definitely some crazy shit happening…

All this said, the 2020 jokes and memes about how awful of a year this has been were somewhat funny at first but now have gone so far overboard that I believe we actually have had a hand in fulfilling the prophecies…

“What are you talking about Byrnes??? They are just jokes and proof of how we are all victims and slaves to our circumstances… These are the worst times of my life and I don’t ever see them getting better.”

Good Morning Mr. SuperSoft…

You are definitely a victim and slave to your circumstances, but there is only one person to blame for your pathetic, defeatist mindset… YOURSELF.  Look Stevie, whether we like it or not our words are forever creating our reality. When we consistently speak negativity and pessimism into our lives, even in a joking manner, we are undoubtedly going to get more of the same.

I am not asking us to bury our head in the sand and pretend that these hardships do not exist, but I am asking each and every one of you Daily Hustlers to rise above the constant cynicism and 2020 negative feedback loop that has been grossly overplayed.

If you just so happen to be reading this Daily Hustle that means that you have been granted the greatest gift any of us could ever ask for… LIFE.  Regardless of current circumstances, be grateful for the opportunity to live through these times because a lot of other people haven’t been so lucky…

Obviously we haven’t been shy about showing our love for the 2000-year-old Stoic philosophy principles, Amor Fati, meaning love our fate, and Memento Mori, meaning we all will die.

Amor Fati teaches us to find light in the darkest days, and Memento Mori teaches us to appreciate each moment for all of its worth, because it won’t always be there…

Time is the most precious resource we possess and our mindset is continuously setting up our current and future happenings… We must be ruthless with our time, progressive with our thoughts and diligent with our actions… Yet absolutely none of that is possible if we keep being whiny little bitches about how bad 2020 has been.
