better AND worse

Building off of yesterday’s #DailyHustle, we talked about whether or not we are getting better or worse on a daily basis… Provided at the end were a few questions we can all use to ultimately help us answer the final and most important question…

Did we get better or worse? 🤷‍♂️

In the self-help world that we live in, we oftentimes are conned into believing that life is this constant meteoric rise to the top until the day that we die, and of course, we are ALWAYS getting better…

Bullshit.

These naive attitudes are meant to make us all feel great, but the reality is that deep down within us, our most sincere and authentic selves aren’t buying that crap. We know what we did or did not do to facilitate our growth and no amount of Daily Hustles are going to change our lives unless we are TRUE with the analysis of our actions.

Look, we are not going to dominate every day; that’s the harsh reality and it’s actually okay. These are the days that we will be able to go back to and learn from what we did or did not do…

So long as this is the case, we may have not gotten “better” but we can LEARN and GROW from our “worse.”

As we have mentioned 9000 times in the Daily Hustle, perceived successes in life are great for the ego, but f*ck the ego…

It’s only with regression that real progress (predicated by humility and gratitude) is able to happen…

If we are training for an ultra marathon, we are constantly doing hard fast runs that break down the body followed up with much easier and slower runs that let the broken body recover. Ultimately, it’s a combination of both the hard charging miles and easy sessions that allow for genuine sustained growth…

In the long run (no pun intended), we need to get better AND worse in order to maximize our potential and optimally perform in life…

Here’s to getting better AND worse… 🥂
