At a recent talk I gave after the Let Them Play Triathlon Across America screening in Nashville, a dude asked me about a common term that #Kowalski and I use that we like to call the BIG EMPTY...
Funny thing is that I don’t think Kowalski or I have ever really defined the BIG EMPTY. We just have a mutual understanding of what it is.
That said, let’s take a shot at articulating this mystical & magical place…
Think about an uncomfortable somewhere we go that eventually challenges the depths of who we are through extreme physical exertion in an incredibly TOUGH environment.
Eventually, the BIG EMPTY forces us to face all of our emotions, perceived problems & insecurities…
Yet the BIG EMPTY is not a place of condemnation and judgment, but rather a place where we cleanse the soul by recognizing our humility & gratitude for the ability to push limits and figure out what’s possible…
Ultimately, the BIG EMPTY is a place where we have no choice but to become comfortable with the uncomfortable.
“Hey, uh, EB… What if I don’t want to become comfortable with the uncomfortable?”
I recognize that voice!!! It’s Stevie SuperSoft once again making a special appearance here at the Daily Hustle…
Well Stevie, if you are not willing to embrace the suck, the alternative is typically unimaginable suffering multiplied 10 X by your mental and physical resistance… Oh yea, there will also be a highly increased potential of no return. Sorry for the harsh dose of reality my little snowflake, but I appreciate you asking the question. ❄️
At the end of the day, the BIG EMPTY and our ability to ENDURE builds a belief & confidence in ourselves that is unrivaled by just about anything else we will ever do in life.
As soon as we realize The BIG EMPTY is a SPECIAL and sought after destination, this world will be a much better place. 👊
