Just finished listening to Eckhart Tolle’s book A New Earth.
There is a section in the book that explores the ego and how it constantly affects just about everything we do and say in life…
First off, Tolle defines ego as an “Attachment to form.”
So, what exactly does this mean?
“I know, I know!!! 🙋♂️”
Hey it’s Stevie SuperSoft.. What do you know Stevie?
“I know that I am the best baseball player in the world, and when I strike out, it’s never my fault because there is always somebody else to blame. I am attached to my self-perceived greatness and gosh darn it, people love me.”
Nailed it Stevie, you and your ego are attached to this image of what you think you are. The problem though Stevie is that by doing that you take zero accountability and you turn into a self righteous, self absorbed omnipotent pussy…
So, the question then becomes how do we detach from form and eliminate ego? 🤷♂️
A few weeks ago, there was a Daily Hustle about how “It’s not for you, it’s for the position you hold.” So long as we are able to keep this perspective, we will never attach our self worth to any sort of thing that we do or position that we hold. We know that even if we are in a unique advantageous position, it’s because of our gratitude and humility, NOT our ego…
Ultimately, In order to separate ourselves from ego, we must DETACH FROM FORM, remain fluid and have the ability to adjust, adapt and grow…
