Was reading a blog post from our favorite rocket scientist Ozan Varol the other day and he brought up a recent podcast that he had just done…
Apparently the host of the podcast asked Varol what he thought about the future impact of artificial intelligence.
Ozan’s response:
“I don’t know.”
The host was shocked that Varol, as educated and experienced in the computer science world as they come, didn’t have a hard line opinion on one of the most controversial and discussed topics…
Ozan then explained that he has heard compelling arguments from intelligent people on both sides and he believed he needs to do more research on the subject before taking a position.
Dang… If only we would all be a little more diligent with our research before making an irrational, emotionally charged end all be all one-sided decision to support a certain stance…
Saying “I don’t know” or “I don’t understand” doesn’t make us weak; it lets people know that we don’t rush to judgement and we are not afraid to make ourselves vulnerable to outside perception while we figure out what the f*ck is really going on…
The issue is we care way too much about what other people may or may not think, so we either take an uneducated crack at a certain side or we pussyfoot our way around the question… Yet, just as we discussed in yesterday’s Daily Hustle, the reality is that we will be respected much more and earn people’s trust and currency by being transparent and simply saying…
“I DON’T KNOW.”
