Just Keep Playing The Tunes…

Recently read a book called Stealing Fire written by Steven Kotler & Jaime Wheal that explores the ultimate state of flow and the potential benefits of transcending the mind to maximize performance…

Sure there is a lot of talk about magic mushrooms, LSD and Burning Man but the one study we can all relate to actually was a bit more PG…

Music 🎶

The book referenced a study done by Apple and the speaker manufacturer Sonos that was conducted to track how often people listened to music at home (4.5 hours a day) and what sort of effect did the music have on social connectivity…

The results were ear shattering…

When tunes were playing, the distance between housemates decreased by 12%… The chances of cooking together increased by 33%… Laughing increased by 15%… Inviting other people over shot up by 85%… Saying I love you rose by 18% and when music was playing in the house, the mood was definitely set, because having sex increased by a whopping 37%. 😅

I grew up in a house that had KOIT 96.5 soft rock playing 24 hours a day (nice work Dad), and rarely will we ever not have some sort of tunes going in our place of residence now… Music is the soundtrack of life and offers a safe & effective way to scratch the surface of a slightly altered state of mind that has the potential to bring out the best version of ourselves…

Lets just remember to keep playing the tunes… 🎶🎶🎶
