Building off of yesterday’s “We Are What We Do” Daily Hustle, I had somebody recently ask if I identified myself as more of a baseball player, endurance athlete or broadcaster…
I thought about it for a second and after a long pause, this is a summed up version of my response:
“Well, baseball was something that I played and made a career out of for a long time… Endurance sports started as a hobby but undoubtedly has become a lifestyle and broadcasting is probably what I would consider my current profession, but #TeamGoHard Foot Reflexology Board salesman is giving the broadcasting thing a run for the top spot. 🤗
On that note, I have written two books, The F*IT List and the Let Them Play Triathlon Across America hardcover GEM and of course I write the Daily Hustle, so figuring I spend a shit ton of time writing, maybe I should identify myself as an author? 🤷♂️
I have also helped produce two documentaries: Diamond To The Rough and the LTP film, so to call myself a movie producer really wouldn’t be that much of a stretch either, would it? 🎥
Creating 5 podcasts a week, I surely would consider myself a podcaster and figuring I had a half dozen speaking engagements lined up before COVID 19 hit, the thought of being labeled as a keynote speaker would make some sense to me…
Then again, as the Cofounder of the LTP Foundation, I would definitely consider myself a philanthropist at heart.
Of course though, as the coach of Let Them Play 10U SQUAD, I feel like I have found my dream job so if you prefer to use a prefix before my name, “Coach Byrnes” will suffice.”
Damn… That question was a little more complicated than I thought. 😅
Really, at the end of the day, I don’t give a fuck if you or anybody else wants to label me because although it may affect my reputation which is completely out of my control, it will never affect my character and just like yesterday’s Daily Hustle suggested, our character is determined not by what some insignificant outsider want to label us, but rather it’s solidified by WHAT WE DO!!!!
P.S. The Let Them Play: A Triathlon Across America documentary is finally here, and it’s the perfect film for a family movie night! Proceeds will not only benefit the Let Them Play foundation, but $1 from each sale goes directly to the COVID-19 Response Fund.
