Dear Millennials,
First and foremost, I want apologize for generalizing you guys as a group…
The world is made up of individuals & when we group people together we tend to hold pre judgements that undoubtedly are NOT applicable to a large percentage within the group…
Unfortunately, your generation has been ridiculed and criticized far more than any other generation in the past 100 years…
Regardless of the people that describe you guys as arrogant, narcissistic, entitled & lazy, I refuse to buy into their sentiments…
And for those who refer to your millennial generation as a bunch of self absorbed socially inept wussies, shame on them…
As a generation X’r, I believe the abuse you millennials endure on a daily basis is unwarranted, unfair and I am here to take a Go Hard stand for you…
Although many people may argue that there is no such thing as a Millennial Go Hard, I beg to differ…
I was told recently to look up oxymoron in the dictionary and “millennial worker” would be one of the first examples… Not true, just looked it up… “Living Death” and “Cruel Kindness” were the first two I found so don’t worry.
Here’s the deal:
You millennials actually have a lot of good things going for you.
You guys are a byproduct of an ever changing progressive culture & have already helped make great strides in so many different arenas in life…
You are more educated than any other generation and you are the first generation to grow up in the amazing digital age we live in… Your technological skills acquired by the time you guys were 6 still surpass the technology capabilities of 90% of the Baby Boomers…
So why does every other generation see fit to use you millennials as their personal punching bag?
Great question & I actually think I have the answer…
You guys don’t stand up for yourselves.
Quit taking the bullsh*t abuse and DO SOMETHING about it.
I’m not talking about physically fighting back or lowering yourselves to petty name calling…
I’m talking about responding with the way you millennials live your lives.
Even if none of the verbal daggers are true & does not pertain to you individually…
When somebody calls your generation arrogant, let that be be a reminder to practice humility.
When somebody calls your generation narcissistic, go out of your way to help others that you know will never be able to pay you back.
When somebody calls your generation entitled, make sure to go out of your way to EARN it, whatever it is you get in life.
When somebody calls your generation lazy, stick your middle finger up to the world then go WORK your ass off.
Lastly…
Don’t respond this way because of your insecurities of how other generations perceive you… Who gives a flying rat f*ck?
Respond this way because this is the way you should be living your lives.
Respond this way because you millennials are about to come in to your societal productivity prime. By 2025 you Yahoo’s (pun intended) will make up 75% of the US workforce.
Respond this way because in 100 years from now when we are all dead, your generation is not going to be judged on what others thought of you. You will be judged on your actions and the feats you accomplished.
Look, I obviously don’t care bout the double mocha lattes you guys like to drink, the man buns, skinny jeans or the perfectly groomed facial hair… I dig your style. But what I do care about is you guys setting aside your participation trophies, getting your shit together & hard charging the world like we Go Hards have a responsibility to do.
All this said, I will leave you with 3 words that you millennials can reflect on during your morning, afternoon & evening hot yoga and meditation sessions:
LETS F*CKING GO!
Much LOVE,
EB
P.S. Get yourself a Team Go Hard lid… I’ll take the millennial Go Hards on my team any day of the week. #LFG
