Get Rid Of That Shit 💩

In Blog, Hustle Podcast by Eric ByrnesLeave a Comment

Yes, for you loyal Daily Hustlers that don’t miss a blog post or podcast, we have addressed this topic before, but considering our current stay at home lockdown status, we figured now to be the perfect time to revisit…

Ataraxia is an ancient word often referenced in The Daily Stoic partly because of Epictetus’ use of it 14 different times in Discourses…

Essentially, it means liberating oneself from materialistic and external things that so often clutter our lives.

As we continue to be homebound, what better time than now to clean up our surroundings which will inevitably lead us to far greater peace and serenity…

I get it, it sometimes can be tough to get rid of shit and we often make every excuse to hold onto something, especially if it holds some sort of sentimental value.

We need to remember that even if it was a gift, the gesture is always far more important than any material possession that was given and that is what we NEED to hold onto.

As I matter of fact I am in the midst of a fantastic book called Blue Zones which explores different regions of the world where people statistically live longer…

Okinawa, Japan was one of those zones and ironically one of the main things that all centenarians in Okinawa had in common was that they lived in very simple and clutter free environments… The furniture was usually nothing more than a few cushions and a fold up futon to sleep on.

You don’t have to go throw away your favorite couch or your letterman’s jacket from high school, but ultimately ask yourself how or if an object is adding value to your life and if it’s not…

GET RID OF THAT SHIT!!!
