Wear Out or Rust Out šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

ā€œA soft, easy life is not worth living if it impairs the fibre of brain and heart and muscle. We must dare to be great; and we must realize that greatness is the fruit of toil and sacrifice and high courage… For us is the life of action, of strenuous performance of duty; let us live in the harness, striving mightily; let us rather run the risk of wearing out than rusting out.”Ā

There are no givens in life…Ā

We like to take precautionary measures and do everything in our power to be healthy and stay safe. Of course, we have lapses but that’s part of what reminds us we need to get our shit together if we have any chance of sticking around for the long haul.Ā

That said, let’s optimistically say we end up living to be 100 years old and our final day is here…

Would you rather take your last breath knowing that you lived your life in a very subdued manner or would you prefer to know you LIVED those 100 years like an absolute f*cking GO HARD? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Let’s look at 2 dudes, coincidentally, both named Stevie…

SuperSoft vs. SAVAGE

There is nothing wrong with Stevie SuperSoft and the subdued life he lived… It was very stress free and pleasantly fulfilling.Ā  He worked the same job for 40 years then seamlessly transitioned into the moderate easy going retirement lifestyle. And nobody can tell him that he didn’t get after it because every Saturday night for the last 30 years of his life, Stevie cut loose and had himself a martini at bingo night. šŸøSure, he eventually rusted out, but everybody can go f*ck off. Stevie SuperSoft lived to be 100.Ā Ā

But what about Stevie SAVAGE? This dude took life to the next level and basically redefined what we thought was humanly possible in a 100 year time frame. Never before had anybody taken a ā€œcan’t stop won’t stopā€ mentality so literal… Sure, there were some trying times and plenty of instability along the way. When you live life on the edge, sometimes you fall off… Unfortunately (or fortunately), Stevie SAVAGE missed the single martini bingo night for the final 30 years of his life… That time was actually spent touring the world on his Harley with his chick and bulldog stuffed away in the side car. It wasn’t always smooth and our dude Stevie SAVAGE eventually wore out, but gosh damn it was a helluva fucking RIDE…Ā

Look, everyday we have choices that will lead us down one of two roads…Ā

The first road is named Stevie SuperSoft Court. It’s a nice road but it dead ends at the cul de sac. We can go around in circles but there is only one way in and one way out…Ā

The second road isn’t actually a road at all… It’s a ramp to the Stevie SAVAGE Super Highway. It has twists, turns and plenty of on and off ramps along the way… Oh yea, it’s also fast, very f*cking FAST.Ā Ā

Once we figure out if we want to wear out or rust out, we will know what road to take. šŸĀ
