What’s Your Trigger?

Was recently listening to “The Rise Of Superman” by Stevan Kotler, which focuses primarily on FLOW and the different ways people achieve and maintain this heightened state of awareness…

The book spends much of its effort highlighting extreme action sports that don’t just use this flow state as a nice complementary addition that enhances performance when available but rather flow is a prerequisite for survival.

Sports such as surfing, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, kayaking, skydiving and wing suiting typically have two pretty simple choices: either access flow or greatly increase your chance of dying.

The question then becomes how do we, as mere mortals, continue to access this semi-altered, incredibly productive state where our ego dissolves and our bodies’ actions work efficiently, effectively and effortlessly without any interference from the mind…

Well, that’s the golden question but the issue is that there is no universal answer… How we achieve flow state involves triggers that are individual to each of us.

That said, when we are able to maintain a positive, progressive mindset and establish routines, we give ourselves the absolute best shot to consistently fire the triggers that bring us into our optimal flowing state of performance…

Bottom line: we can’t force our way into flow but we can do all the necessary things to help get us there…
