Write Your Own Book 📖

In Blog, Hustle Podcast by Eric Byrnes

Each day we get up, we have an opportunity to write a script… We have a chance to create the story that we want to tell…

That said, when we plan our days, we need to ask ourselves is this really something that we want to be defined by? Are my actions representative of something that I will be proud to put in my book? No matter what, the answer to this is NOT always going to be yes…

When I wrote The F*IT List, it was a collection of life stories in their purest form that I knew I wanted to one day give to my kids. The thought was that hopefully they would be able to learn from some of the experiences I was able to endure in my life. This then brought up the obvious question that had yet to be answered…

What had I learned from my journey?

At this point, the Life Lessons From A Human Crash Test Dummy portion of The F*IT List was added and I haven’t stopped reflecting, evaluating or writing since… What I noticed was by putting my days up for review (as one of our favorite stoics Seneca suggests), it has given me an entire new sense of accountability.

David Goggins, a former Navy Seal, Army Ranger and endurance badass speaks about this all the time. Don’t live somebody else’s life; live your life… “Write your own f*cking book.”

We have become so consumed with the self-help world and we have become so dependent on motivational bullshit that we oftentimes forget to live our lives and put that shit to work.

It’s GREAT to read and learn from others people’s books, but there is nothing more educational and rewarding than writing your own.

Every day is a chance to write a new chapter…

The only question is, what story are you going to tell? 🤷‍♂️
