During the “Lance” documentary about 7-time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong, they asked him a very interesting question…
“Are you still relevant?”
However we decide to perceive that question is up to us individually, but let’s explore exactly what I believe it to mean and how we all may be able to answer that difficult question about ourselves…
First, let’s define relevant… It is a very broad term that actually should be directly linked to a specific field. According to Webster’s dictionary, relevant is “closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered.”
Being relevant in the public’s eye is a very complicated topic because it will always come down to the subjective opinion of other people which we obviously have no control over, yet true relevance isn’t up to inconsequential outsiders… It’s up to us!
As we have preached so often here in the Daily Hustle, we are what we do so if we have the desire to be relevant in an arena of life, we have no choice but to immerse ourselves within the culture.
Being relevant, like so many other things, isn’t something that is given to us, it’s EARNED through relentless work and dedication to a certain group of people or craft…
Everyday we get out of the rack we have a choice whether or not we are going to be genuinely relevant and despite what others may try to tell you, it ain’t up to them, it’s up to us.
